A major technical improvement in the field of pesticide treatments has been introduced with the application and use of the electrostatic system to optimise spraying operations. An innovation that makes it possible to minimise environmental impact and carry out more effective and efficient treatments.
A technology that allows to obtain a significant increase in coverage and homogeneity of treatments, together with a huge reduction in drift phenomena, dripping on the ground and product waste.
The electrostatic system allows you to work in a less impactful and much more environmentally friendly manner. Optimal distribution results in the full use of the plant protection product and, therefore, the reduction of the amount required for more effective treatments. And this leads to a reduction in the dispersion of pesticides in the environment, thus reducing pollution.
The electrostatic system is applied near the dispensing points and generates an electric field that gives a negative charge to the air emitted by the sprayer or low volume sprayer, which in turn charges the mixture hit and sprayed by the air flow. This results in maximum adherence to the vegetation, which is covered evenly, since plants have a natural positive charge – given by sap, mineral salts and moisture – which magnetically attracts the negatively charged solution coming from the electrostatic system.
In this way, the pesticide reaches the entire surface of the plant and is deposited only on the vegetation, reducing its dispersion and drift even in the presence of wind and off-target spraying. All of this goes to protect the health of the operator and anything that is near the field to be treated.
In addition to this, the micro-droplets all have the same charge and repel each other. They do not join together as they spread and, therefore, do not increase in size. In this way, an even distribution and homogeneous coverage is obtained on all the vegetation and fruit, without uncovered or over-treated areas.
As a result, the treatment is more effective and optimal crop defence is guaranteed. This means healthier plants and a better harvest in terms of quality and quantity.
All with significant savings in time, resources and costs.
Ideal electrostatic system
At Ideal, we use the innovative electrostatic system on sprayers and low volume sprayers which combine the fine and uniform micronisation of the mixture with electrostatic system technology to achieve perfect adherence to the surface of the plants to be treated without drift and dripping, even at higher volumes.
The electrostatic system is fitted as an optional accessory on sprayers of the Rhone and Rhone Top range.
Rhone: ideal sprayer for treatments in orchards and vineyards even of medium to large sizes, thanks to the powerful reverse suction fan that allows for a high and constant air volume and homogeneous distribution even on lush plants.
Rhone Top: perfect solution for treatments on very large orchards thanks to the tower fan that allows for a high and constant air volume and targeted distribution.
However, it is on pneumatic sprayers that the electrostatic system offers the best performance.
Low-volume treatments micronise the liquid solution into very fine particles and the electrostatic charge allows the sprayed product to be attracted by the vegetation, which is evenly and uniformly covered. And the minimal droplet size helps them stay on the foliage and fruit, drastically reducing dripping and drift phenomena.
The electrostatic system is fitted as an optional accessory on low volume sprayers of the Supra and Phantom range.
Supra: ideal sprayer for low-volume treatments on multiple rows of espalier vineyards, thanks to its powerful fan and multi-row bars.
Phantom: ideal solution for low-volume treatments both in marquee vineyards – or crops with a similar planting layout – and espalier vineyards or orchards, thanks to the fact that the position of the two rear diffusers can be adjusted manually.
Using the electrostatic system on our sprayers and low volume sprayers allows you to optimise treatments and the use of pesticides. The product is distributed evenly without leaving uncovered areas and without waste. In this way, effective treatments are achieved with great savings in resources and with a significant reduction in environmental impact and health risks.
